Federal Interagency Sedimentation Project (FISP)

OVERVIEW

The Federal Interagency Sediment Project (FISP) was started in 1939 to standardize and advance sediment science among federal agencies. The mission continues to be relevant today because a multitude of advanced technologies and methods continue to be developed. The project is unique in that it includes funding from multiple federal agencies. Current funding representatives are from the U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Department of Agriculture. The FISP gives updates on projects and research to the SEDHYD Sedimentation Committee (SC) and looks for ways to collaborate with the SC when opportunities arise. Also, FISP-sponsored researchers often publish results at SEDHYD Conferences.
